In Missoula, Mount Jumbo's North Zone opened to the public Wednesday after being closed for the winter.

Closing the north zone helps protect elk and other animals to regain their strength after a long season.

Missoula Parks and Recreation reports the north zone is opening because the Jumbo elk herd is moving into its summer range in the Rattlesnake Wilderness Area.
