An "intruder" eagle flew in early this morning, branch hopping and eventually making its way to the lookout branch. Gabby remained on the nest the entire time, vocalizing her displeasure that it's not Beau. Gabby eventually tucks in and gets some sleep. The intruder remains on the lookout branch until Gabby wakes up a few hours later. From cam 2 we get some good close ups of the head and tail feathers. He watches and vocalizes from the lookout branch for about an hour before moving to the Wallenda branch. From there we get more close ups, and this time of the feet too. It perches there for several hours while Gabby continues to chatter her discontent. It does some shifting around for about another half hour and then it flies off. Gabby seemed to relax then, and she takes her first quick break on the lookout branch. She takes a few more quick breaks through the afternoon and then in the evening she's back at the nest, incubating NE29 and playing with a pine cone. Finally Beau arrives at the Wallenda branch and then he moves to the nest. Gabby tells him all about her morning with the intruder and they share some quick beaking. (It's such a shame they can't seem to keep this cam focused). But, Gabby leaves the nest and Beau takes over incubating. Gabby moves to the cam pole branch and spends a long time preening. After a nice long break Gabby returns to the nest and takes over from Beau. He moves to the sunset branch and she stays with NE29. Beau seems to be staying the night tonight.
