PM Modi Calls Congress' Wealth Redistribution Scheme a Maoist Ideology | India Elections 2024

In an exclusive conversation with Network 18, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed recent comments made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda on inheritance tax. The US-based president of Congress’s overseas wing, Pitroda had advocated the need for a US-style inheritance tax in India to reduce inequality via wealth redistribution. PM Modi ruled out the possibility of introducing an inheritance tax if re-elected for a record third term. Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also talked about rolling out a national socio-economic survey if his party comes to power in the 2024 general elections. The survey will be aimed at evaluating the assets owned by different sections of the population, based on which wealth will be redistributed among the people to reduce inequality. PM Modi has slammed Congress' wealth distribution scheme, calling it "disastrous" for the country and its people.
