Young African-American men, eager to serve their country, had first to fight prejudice and systemic discrimination before they even faced the enemy. This is the story of the Army’s best kept secret during WWII – black combat pilots – the Tuskegee Airmen.

Veterans of the 332nd Fighter Group tell in their own words how they became some of the best combat pilots of World War II. Their journey leads them from training at the newly established air base in Tuskegee, Alabama, in the segregated South, to Ramitelli, in the Italian countryside where they fly bomber escort missions. Their narration highlights their determination to reach their goal and prove the naysayers wrong but also shows the joy they experienced flying the fastest allied aircraft, the Mustang P51.

The VR/360 documentary was filmed on location at airfields in Tuskegee, Alabama, in downtown Tuskegee and at the Tuskegee University as well as in Ramitelli, Italy. The P-51 Mustang footage was filmed in Dallas, TX, at the CAF headquarters where the plane is exhibited in the adjacent museum.
