This video lesson is a complete analysis of "This is the Dark Time, My Love" by Martin Carter. This lesson is part of a series in which I analyze the 20 CSEC poems for 2018-2022.

In this poem, we get a picture of the oppression that Guyana faced in 1953. We see themes of love, death, colonization, and war. We also get to see how nature responds to this dark time. In this video, we will get into each line and explore its meaning, while looking at how the poetic devices work within the poem.
