The crash site of a Douglas DC3 can be found not far from the summit of Mt.Success in Success,NH. From some research Ive done, it was flight 792 headed from Laconia NH to Berlin NH. It was flown by Northeast airlines. The crash happened on November 30th 1954. there were four crew members and three passengers on board the plane. the weather that day was heavy fog bringing it to nearly zero visibility. All people on board survived the impact but two eventually died from injuries and exposure to the elements. On the morning of December 2nd 1954, the remaining survivors were found and rescued but the wreckage still remains up there to this day.

If you wish to find it, Its located near the summit of Mt. Success. to get to the trailhead you have to take Success Pond Road in Berlin, NH, about 5mi down the logging road (4x4 is recommended) you will find a trailhead with a street sign that says Success pond rd and Success trailhead. Hike up the Success Trail for 2.4mi following only the blue markers until you get to the Mahoosic Trail which also happens to be the Appalachain Trail. At that intersection, take a right onto Mahoosic trail for the last 0.6mi to the Mt. Success summit. after reaching the summit, continue on the trail for about 10min at a normal pace following the wooden boards crossing the bogs. after 10min, its a bushwhack about 300-400ft off trail to the left. If you have signal on your phone and can pull up a satellite map, the coordinates are 44.466960, -71.042482. if you cant find it due to lack of signal, keep bushwhacking South until you find a narrow trail marked by yellow and keep following it. you may find it eventually.

It is truly a sight to see but it must also be respected. do not take anything out of the wreckages as it is federal property on federal land
