This is Carl Sandburg, the renowned poet and biographer, who describes 1880s politics and seeing a political rally in his childhood in October of 1884, when he was just six years old. The rally took place in Galesburg, Illinois and occurred a few weeks before the presidential election between Grover Cleveland and James G. Blaine. Audio has been remastered. The interview was recorded in 1956.
