I think that this may be one of the most dread-inducing, atmospheric, and horrifying scores in any Godzilla film to date. Sato created a score that, while ambient and lacking in leitmotifs, makes up for it in an immersive soundscape reminiscent of Dunkirk or Oppenheimer's scores, which perfectly fits a Godzilla movie as dark as this one. The music most associated with Godzilla consists of a lot of droning ambience, sirens, and rushing strings, some of the most stressful music I've had to hear for a Godzilla film. The main original theme associated with Godzilla comes in the form of a three beat motif that blasts with grand brass over a strained string section and holy choir. It's very simple and not that complex, but it's an absolutely powerful, menacing theme that evokes the horror and warlike terror this Godzilla seeks to wreak upon a postwar Japan. It's a very striking theme in how much it evokes more western sensibilities of composing, but I would be lying if I said Sato didn't create a score that pushed the tone and atmosphere of a Godzilla soundtrack for the better.
