I've known Amit-ji before he became a superstar.
We were part of the same group of friends and I recall many evenings spent collectively on my terrace playing word games and mental games. He was brilliant, often a winner - and always fun!
And then success happened to him. No more games evenings. He had transcended into a stratosphere that left little time for normal life.
Over the years I observed the emergence of another personality called Amitabh Bachchan. After his political stint, he changed even more; there was an air of seriousness about him. It was a far cry from the Amit we knew. He had become circumscribed. Even though I understood why, it seemed a pity.
Where had the old Amit gone? I wanted very much to meet and find out in our first rendezvous...
