Why are so many of us scared of high notes? If you think about the science of it, all it is is our vocal chords stretching a little and vibrating faster. So really all we have to do is prep ourselves, apply some technique (and practise obvs!) and then the high notes will come easily. Yes, they really will and this video will help you get there. So let's get high!

In this video you will join me as I warm up my voice to sing MInnie Riperton's "Lovin' You," a song that goes up to a very high F sharp. We will start off as always by finding our breath with a simple breathing exercise. Then we do two gentle SOVT warm ups, gentle but also pushing ourselves a little! It's then time to introduce vowel sounds with scales and interval leap exercises. And then to calm ourselves after working our voices pretty hard, we finish with a cool down exercise. Woah!!

New videos come every week so let me know in the comments what you'd like to hear about (Technique? Song breakdowns? Singer analysis?) We're a democracy at MusicForMy... so you get to chose!
