In a devastating attack in Karachi, Pakistan, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle targeted a van carrying Japanese workers. The explosion killed the Japanese workers, who were en route to Pakistan Suzuki Motors, while miraculously leaving the vehicle's occupants unharmed. Following the attack, the surviving Japanese workers were safely moved to a secure location under police custody. Law enforcement also neutralized another assailant who was with the suicide bomber. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes after a recent similar incident targeting Chinese nationals. In a separate attack last month, five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed when an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into their convoy on the way to their camp in Dasu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. As a result of these attacks, civil works at the Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project have been suspended by the Chinese company involved.
