In this film breakdown, we take a look at Los Angeles Chargers CB Michael Davis, who is the most underrated player in the NFL in my opinion. Davis stepped up huge last year, after JC Jackson went down halfway through the year, and his tape was as good as any CB in the league. He was top-10 among qualifying CBs in open target percentage, points saved per play, forced incompletion percentage, WAR, completion percentage, and missed tackle rate. The most impressive part of his tape and numbers though, are the fact that he did it while playing the majority of his snaps in press man coverage. He was frequently on an island by himself, consistently eliminating the X receiver from the play. If he can repeat his 2022 season again this year, he could establish himself as one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL.
