Department of Virology, GMC, Amritsar proudly announces the installation of state-of-the-art equipment Ion Gene Studio S5 and Ion chef (Thermo Fisher Scientific) to carry out NGS. Genetic variations including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), hotspot mutations, driver mutations, insertions, deletions, duplications, etc. can be detected for number of diseases ranging from rare diseases to the most prevalent ones including unknown infectious diseases and malignancies.Underlying genetic cause of the prevalent cancers such as lung, breast, colon and rectal can be identified and targeted therapy can be initiated.
