Sky News host Rita Panahi has slammed US President Joe Biden for declaring Easter Sunday be a “Trans Day of Visibility”.

Ms Panahi criticised the President’s White House statement.

“I am proud to have appointed transgender leaders to my Administration and …. I am proud to have signed historic Executive Orders that strengthen civil rights protections in housing, employment, health care, education, the justice system and more,” President Biden said in his statement.

President Biden, on “Transgender Day of Visibility”, also honoured the “extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans”.

“There’s the White House statement complete with an Easter bunny in the White House logo,” Ms Panahi said.

“Biden’s statement made further false claims about the epidemic of violence facing trans-Americans.

“He also said this about his Republican opponents: ‘extremists are proposing hundreds of hateful laws that target and terrify transgender kids and their families — silencing teachers, banning books, and even threatening parents, doctors, and nurses with prison for helping parents get care for their children’.

“The question must be asked: do we really need a trans day of visibility?”
