It won’t be long before they’re gone. We are relishing the short time that is left watching Storm & Spring develop their survival skills right before our eyes in the habitat before they venture further out and eventually on their own. The video posted illustrates how they playfully bomb each other and recover into flight. They will be taking serious notes observing Mr. Majestic and Hannah hunt. As mentioned previously, fledglings ~ we still consider them fledglings if they depend on the parents for food ~ will eventually leave the territory and will need to find their own way. At that point we consider them juvenile bald eagles. Some leave sooner than others. Once they fly away as the wind blows, if you will, they will need to find their own food source. Through trial and error, they will figure out how to get to food with their eagle eye, whether it is from dead or injured prey, or as luck may have it, they catch their own. Eventually, turkey vultures will reveal a source for easy food as TV’s only eat carrion/carcass on the ground. Not only are bald eagles at the top of the food chain; they are opportunists and will attempt to steal prey from other birds like Osprey, Eagles and other birds of prey.
