US President Joe Biden says that he is open to a public debate with Donald Trump. Trump said he was ready, though he questioned Biden’s willingness. Until now, Biden’s reelection campaign had declined to commit to participating in the debates, a hallmark of every general election presidential campaign since 1976. Additionally, the Biden camp is worried that Trump would not adhere to the rules set by the debate commission. Biden’s comments come after Donald Trump repeatedly challenged the American President to a debate, including in the courtroom or even the White House. Debate commission authorities say that the debate would only happen starting September.
