After Rosina gave Figaro a letter with encouraging words addressed to Lindoro, she is surprised by Dr. Bartolo (Richard Burkhard). Rosina manages to fool him, however, he remains suspicious, claiming that a doctor of his class is much too smart to be deceived by her.
