In 1187, during the Battle of Hattin, Saladin successfully defeated the Crusader forces and recaptured Jerusalem after nearly a century under Christian rule. However, in this victory, Saladin displayed a remarkably noble attitude and respect towards his enemies.

When Jerusalem fell into Saladin's hands, he demonstrated tolerance and humanity. He allowed Christian residents to leave the city safely as long as they paid a ransom. This action earned him respect from both Muslim and Christian communities.
