His Beatitude Patriarch John X recites a prayer for our Lord God to have compassion on us and heal the sick and injured, and comfort the hearts of the whole world.

The prayer was translated from Arabic to English, by Maher Salloum.

O Holy God, Lord of mercies and God of all consolation. O fountain of goodness and source of pure righteousness. Thou Who establisheth the mountains and ruleth the depth of the sea by thy word of command. O Father of lights and disperser of darkness, O Christ God.

We bow down before thee today and bend the knee of our heart and the arrogance of our minds. We kneel down before thee O Lord of life and death, and the terror of the earthquake is stamped upon us. We raise the eye of the heart toward thee and mourn thousands who perished in this earthquake in the hope of the resurrection unto life everlasting.

O Master of mercy and Lord of hope. Look down with thy compassionate eye and beset thy humanity whom thou loved in the shelter of thy wings. Attend to us in the shelter of thy protection. Be compassionate unto us O Lord and comprise us with thy mercies. O Jesus who came to us as Savior, attend to us with thy divine aid and cover us with the abundance of thy light. O Jesus who holdest the creation, attend to us with thy divine peace. O Jesus have mercy on those who perished in this fearful earthquake and grant them thy divine mercy. O Lord of salvation, grant us thy mercies and heal the injured and shelter the homeless. O Jesus be with us in such a distress that claimed the souls of our beloved. O Emmanuel be with us and bandage the wounds of our heart. O Emmanuel anoint the hearts of the displaced with thy relieving comfort, and unite the departed to thy compassionate bosom.

O Lord of the universe, bless every hand working to rescue the souls trapped under the rubble. We propitiate you today by the intercessions of the Virgin Mary the protector of this Holy Monastery. We propitiate you by the tears of the beloved, the sighs of the children and the grieving hearts of the mothers. Be with us O God, O Lord of mercies. We propitiate you today by the honor of Antioch; Antioch who baptized thy Apostles by thy glorious name, and who cries today along with thousands of dead, the Church of the two apostles that was leveled to the ground along with churches and houses.

Strengthen us O Jesus and be with us. Have mercy on the dead, heal the injured, comfort the displaced, and assist the relievers and rescuers.

O thou who deeply loveth thy human creation, bury our pains by thy passion. O thou who sent the spirit as comfort to thine apostles, grant us divine comfort to walk in the ways of thy Gospel. O calm haven amidst the storm of our life, calm the tumult of misfortunes, and be O Lord a haven to our souls amidst the storm of this world. Remember O Lord the entire world and bestow upon everyone thy rich mercy and grant us our petition for salvation. And be all for all, and have mercy on us and on thy world, through the intercessions of the mother virgin Mary and all the Saint, for thou art blessed unto the ages, Amen.
