Heartbreaking ... 17 falls off the nest when River delivers some fish to the nest. 17 was excited to see the food coming and was ready with a full on mantle when River landed. 17 was grabbing at Mom's leg for the fish, in the excitement she lost her balance and went off the side of the nest. We contacted the American Eagle Foundation requesting help for 17. Please keep 17 in your heart, thoughts and prayers as we wait for an update.

About the nest and River & Obey
This nest is located at the Dale Hollow Lake, Tennessee
The resident female is River and the male Obey went missing on Feb 28/23. This pair was blessed with three healthy eaglets but unfortunately with Obey missing River was forced to raise the eaglets on her own. River was forced to hunt and protect the eaglets from various intruders, it was a stressful time for this family. Sadly, during a shortage of food the youngest eaglet DH19 passed away. Later when River brought a fish to the nest that had fishing line attached the remaining two eaglets got tethered to it. DH18 had the line twisted around its legs, which cut thorough thorough tissue. Despite a rescue and heroic efforts to save him it was not enough. Soar High and Forever Free Lil Ones!

The remaining eaglet DH17 has been doing well, recently branched and may have fledged. There has not been a food drop at the nest since May 18 so please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
