A very moving historical video document. The final moments of the legendary Chervona Ruta Festival in Chernivtsi in 1989 which had turned into a festival of renewed Ukrainian national assertiveness. Remember, the blue and yellow Ukrainian colours were still banned, as was the national anthem -- Sche ne vmerla Ukraina. In defiance of this ban by the Soviet authorities (the USSR was not to disintegrate until December 1991!), three of the young stars of the festival, Vasyl Zhdankin (who set the tone for the finale with a stirring patriotic song), Viktor Morozov and Eduard Drach, courageously sang the national anthem on stage at the end of the Festival. The reaction from the young crowd speaks powerfully for itself. The rest is history...but such defining moments should not be forgotten.

Василь Жданкін, Віктор Морозов і Едуард Драч, мужньо співали національний гімн на сцені наприкінці фестивалю. Реакція молодого натовпі говорять потужно саме за себе. Останнє вже історія ... Але такі визначальні моменти не повинні бути забуті.
