Madison Elizabeth Wegener, age fourteen, lost her battle to Pulmonary Hypertension on, January 21, 2020.
Knowing that she would likely need new lungs someday, Madison was an advocate of organ donation. On January 21st, this beautiful angel saved the lives of four people and gave a fifth person the gift of sight.

Madison's heart valves were able to be recovered. They were small, which is a rare blessing; it means they can now be used in babies. Madison would have loved this as she so loved babies.

What a hero and what a meaningful legacy. Thank you, Madison. This song is for you.

Lyrics

Madison

A beautiful girl
Too young to leave this world
Or could she be an angel, too pure for this broken earth

Well maybe I lost her
But maybe she found home
And maybe she’s better off
In a place I’ve never known
Maybe I wanna give up
But what if she’s right here
Whispering: Please stay strong

I may be bleeding but these wounds will mend
I may be choking, I’ll breathe again
Cause I know she’s right here, the heart of me
She gave her life to save the lives of so many
Madison
You’ll always be

She gifted her eyes, now someone blind can see
Her body parts a match to four people in desperate need

I know she’s an angel
She’ll always watch over me
Such a young girl with
Such a meaningful legacy
When I wanna give up
I remember she’s right here
Whispering: Please stay strong for me

I may be bleeding but these wounds will mend
I may be choking, I’ll breathe again
Cause I know she’s right here, the heart of me
She gave her life to save the lives of so many
Madison
You’ll always be

It cuts it burns
It more than hurts
But that’s the body and the mind
She lives she breathes
Just somewhere else
Somewhere words can’t define
I’m a survivor
And this is my war
And for her sake
I’ll fight like never before
And I will win I’ll win for her

I may be bleeding but these wounds will mend
I may be choking, I’ll breathe again
Cause I know she’s right here, the heart of me
She gave her life to save the lives of so many
Madison
You’ll always be

I may be bleeding but these wounds will mend
I may be choking, I’ll breathe again
Cause I know she’s right here, the heart of me
She gave her life to save the lives of so many
Madison
You’ll always be Madison
Here with me

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) affects people of all ages, races and genders. It is a very difficult disease to diagnose because its symptoms mirror those of many other diseases. Usually, by the time it is finally diagnosed, it is too late. The average life-expectancy is 2.8 years without treatment. Please share this video and help us spread the word. The more awareness we can create, the more lives we can save.
