किसी घर में वॉटर प्यूरीफायर या आरओ न मिले तो हैरानी होती है. घड़े के पानी की जगह धीरे धीरे फिल्टर्ड पानी ने ले ली. आरओ यानी रिवर्स ऑसमोसिस, जो पानी को साफ़ करने की एक तकनीक होती है. विशेषज्ञों ने आरओ फिल्टर किए गए पानी को लेकर चेतावनी दी, जिसमें कहा गया कि ज़रूरी नहीं है आरओ का पानी पीने के लिए सबसे सेफ़ हो, ये आपकी सेहत को नुकसान भी पहुंचा सकता है। विशेषज्ञों की इस चेतावनी पर WHO ने भी चिंता जताई है क्योंकि RO फिल्टर, पानी से उन मिनरल्स को भी निकाल देता है जो शरीर के लिए ज़रूरी हैं। रिपोर्ट्स के मुतबाकि लंबे समय तक आरओ का पानी पीने से शरीर में कैल्सियम, मैग्नीसियम, पोटैसियम जैसे खनिजों की कमी हो जाती है।
