A lot of BMW N20 engines have been plagued with the timing chain stretching as well as the chain guides breaking. In order to repair this issue properly, you have to replace the timing chain in the engine. This isn’t a simple process and requires a lot special tools and equipment to make it easier. It also take a long time; especially, if you are working at home without a lift.
