Temple history:
This is a Sri Krishna Temple that belongs to one of the Ashta-Matha of Udupi, Puttige Matha. This is a sacred & religious temple open for public and mainly visited by Hindu, Brahmin, Madhwa community. The structure of the temple resemble the Govardhan hill that was lifted by Lord Sri Krishna with his small finger to protect his followers. This is very nicely and wisely depicted in the temple. The main deity Lord Sri Krishna is standing in the middle of the cave like structure almost in the open so that we can see him from all 360 degrees. This temple has a huge "Pathashala", religious school for Hindu, Madhwa followers, and all belonging to the community can take the benefit of this knowledge by enrolling into this religious school. Several religious ceremonies are performed by the learned and experienced priests and the food served in this temple is one of the best and follow Udupi method of pure Vegetarian food.
