The transcendent organ music heard here is by composer Ned Rorem. He was born in Richmond, Indiana and moved with his family to Chicago where he studied at the American Conservatory. Rorem later studied at Northwestern University and the Curtis Institute. He was raised as a Quaker, also called The Society of Friends, and was inspiried to compose "A Quaker Reader" based upon Quaker texts. The reading that this movement is based upon is from the final words of James Nayler, "There is a spirit that delights to do no evil".
