Today I'll show you how to move smoothly on the piano keyboard, and demonstrate several progressions with smooth voice leading. The secret is to minimize the motion of the individual notes, and make sure the notes move by a semitone or a whole tone at most when you switch between chords. As we discuss this I'll draw from a few popular examples, including This Love by Maroon 5, Short People by Randy Newman, and Blackbird by The Beatles.
