Dragons plant no trees. Remember that. Remember who you are, what you were made to be. Remember your words.

"Fire and Blood," Daenerys told the swaying grass. —A Dance with Dragons

character: Daenerys Targaryen
series: Game of Thrones
music: /watch?v=YP9q8ZADGL8

Almost two years ago, I was wrapping up this edit when my laptop died and I lost everything. A year later, I tried again by slowly putting each scene and audio clip back together, only to nitpick my choices to death. Now, I realize that it's finally time I let this go so I can move on to other edits that I've since completed. That said, this edit means a lot to me as it feels rather like my goodbye to Dany, who first inspired my love of GRRM's remarkable universe. Dany was the first character I fell in love with (soon followed by Arya, Sansa, and Cersei) and as such holds a special place in my heart.

The music choice for this edit was inspired by another video I saw for Dany way back when season 1 came out. I thought it would be fun to revisit the song and see how it reflects Dany's complete journey and character arc. My process for creating this was quite different than my usual routine as I started by going over Dany's key quotes and scenes throughout the series in an effort to weave them together and show Dany's evolution from point A to B. The result of this method is a quote-heavy video that was honestly a pain in the neck to get the audio levels right on. As such, please note that closed captioning is available.

Thanks to everyone that's supported my work these past few years, and I hope you all enjoy this bittersweet goodbye to the Mother of Dragons, though I doubt it will be my last edit for her.
