GB News star Patrick Christys says the Rwanda scheme is proving to be a deterrent for illegal migrants entering the UK.

Christy’s comments come amid growing tensions between the UK and Ireland as asylum seekers are crossing into the Republic from Northern Ireland, reportedly out of fear they will be sent to Rwanda if they remain in the UK.

“We are now interviewing people when they land on these small boats in Britain, and breaking the news to them that they could be sent to Rwanda," he said.

“Quite a lot of them want to turn the boat around and go back the other way.

“So that’s a good sign.

“Ireland are saying their influx is part of Rwanda.”
