The Hidden Mysteries within the Crane Revealed!!!
Cracking the Statue of the Crane's Secret Codes

To all Martial Arts Friends,

Especially those in the Shaolin Kempo Arts. There is a form known as "Statue of the Crane".

The form is called that because of the "freezing like a statue" in the crane stance, a one legged stance that is a prevalent feature of the form/kata

It has been stated that the form was from the Tomari-Te and is known as "Rohai" which means "Vision of a Crane".

Kosaku Matsumora of the Tomari-te school is thought by some to be the creator of this kata. Anko Itosu later divided the form into three parts.

The Shotokan version of Rōhai renamed Meikyo, (which means "bright mirror") by Gichin Funakoshi is very distinct from the other versions.

It is believed that Funakoshi being a much older and earlier student of Itosu may have been taught a different version of Rohai.

Gichin Funakoshi once said, “In the past, it was expected that about three years were required to learn a single kata, and as expert of considerable skill would only know three or at most five kata.”

If ever there is a “single kata” that he is talking about ….it is the Crane form. There is so much in the bunkia and codes imbedded in the numbers and moves that it should take years to learn from and understand.

I have worked with Masters from coast to coast and none of them knew the information that lies within this form.

Even while filming this course, there were some 4th dans in the room freaking out at what was hidden in this kata.
