Being a Trumpet player myself, this is one of my personal heroes in the Spartan Marching Band.
His name is Sho Dembinski. In 2019, I believe he was 2nd chair in the Spartan Trumpet section and also a section leader. He has some AWESOME chops (that's what we horn players say when somebody knows how to play the instrument exceptionally well) and he also makes one heck of a Cruella De Vil at Halloween (sorry Sho, had to bring that up! LoL...).
Here, the SMB is doing an outside practice for one of the pieces they played at a 2019 halftime and at the 2019 Pinstripe Bowl in New York called El Toro Caliente. Sho has the solo in the middle of the song.
I kinda felt sorry for Sho this day, because as rehearsals sometimes go, you can play some parts of a song over and over and over again to get it the way the director wants it to be for the performance. Being the quintessential showman, Sho gave it his best every time he got called upon, but in this clip, through no fault of his own, I think he had already belted out this solo about 4 times that day! He still sounded great to me!
