You have come here on the wings of 'Mivtzah Emunah' – 'Operation Faith', to demonstrate your feeling of solidarity and identification with the people of Israel – and particularly with those of our people, in the North and in the South – [Gush Katif/Gaza] who have had to endure rocket attacks at the hands of Israel’s enemies. In performing this extraordinary mitzvah, you are acting in the finest tradition of our Jewish heritage, which sets music and song side by side with divine worship and with such qualities as glory and heroism – yes, and thanksgiving, the theme of tonight’s concert.” These are the words of H.
