The official visualiser for Mia Wray - Delete.

The thirteenth release in the Mushroom 50 singles series, Mia Wray covers 'Delete' by DMA'S. First released in 2014, ‘Delete’ was the debut single from Sydney band DMA’S. Written and produced by Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O’Dell, ‘Delete’ has achieved Platinum status in Australia and came in at #21 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of the Decade. DMA’S signed to I OH YOU, part of the Mushroom Group in 2014. Since then they have grown into a phenomenal export of Australian music, with their fifth studio album How Many Dreams? debuting at #3 on the UK album charts and has been nominated for 5 ARIA Awards in 2023. Mushroom founder Michael Gudinski remembered being “captivated by its catchy simplicity and rawness” when he first heard the song.

Mia Wray, who signed to Mushroom Music Publishing in 2012 and to Ivy League Records in 2021, pared the song right back to its fundamental delicacy and vulnerability to beautiful result.
“I wanted to keep my version pretty intimate and simple because I think that’s where most of the beauty in this song lies. When the drums kicked in, we just built it up in a way that felt really natural and magic, and whatever came out, came out. Rob Muiños produced it at his studio, Rat Shack in Collingwood, and created a space where we – the band and I – could all record our parts live together and feed off each other’s energies and I think it worked beautifully.”

Mushroom, one of the world’s most influential music and entertainment collectives, will be releasing a special series of re-imagined singles featuring artists covering classic Mushroom songs from across the past five decades.
