presents episode 1840 | DR MATTHEW BUDOFF re: Dave Feldman

Dr Matthew Budoff: the combination of images in this
tool allows us to quantify blood vessel plaque over time…
Study: 100 patients, adopted carb-restricted, keto diet
-in diabetic or obese: lipids improve
-in lean athletic types: LDL goes up, sometimes extremely

Checked patients with high HDL & low TG &
very high LDL cholesterol
-excluded patients with genetic pre-disposition for high
cholesterol: familial hypercholesterolemia
-excluded patients who did not have
normal cholesterol before trial

Aim of study: prospectively evaluate plaque progression
over 1 year in these LMHR [lean mass hyper responder]
-matched against population [Miami Heart Study] of
random sampling [asymptomatic]
Compared plaque of each group
-LMHR are NOT born with
high LDL

Population: cholesterol is high for many years due to
eating standard American high-carb diet…
LMHR: metabolically very healthy: HDL 80+ TG 70-
