Television Viewership:
Via Athlon Sports Viewership for the Saturday games on FOX was extremely impressive: Stallions vs Renegades averaged 1.181 million viewers while the Panthers vs Battlehawks averaged 1.349 million viewers. The USFL opening weekend last year saw 864K and 837K viewers on FOX, so this is a 44% increase in viewership for the FOX product this year though the XFL saw 1.54 million viewers on ABC last year. When it came to the Sunday games on ESPN, they were once again impressive with 960k viewers for the Brahmas vs Defenders and 703K for the Showboats vs Roughnecks. Strong showing for the UFL for the first week of the season when it comes to television viewership.

Finally, the UFL kicked off this past weekend and was a pretty fun time in my humble opinion. The UFL took what was great about both the USFL and XFL and showed them off. Play on the field seemed to be at a higher level with the total amount of players playing being 800 this year compared to the 1,600 players between the two leagues last year. But will this league have the staying power, and should you tune in?
