When made properly, this kit is ludicrously satisfying and relaxing to play with. It's sort of like a jelly zen garden and you can spend ages arranging the figures inside, or use your own charms, seashells or glitter! However it was much harder to put together than expected, and this also made the video much more complex than planned. I ended up having to do a ton of research about different types of water and polymers. Spoiler: This is not a slime but a super absorbent type of plastic called sodium polyacrylate. The "jelly" texture simply comes from the fact that the polymer powder has absorbed so much water that it expanded and thickened the texture of the liquid. This is very different to PVA which requires borate to break down the polymer chains before it can form a slime.

Getting sodium polyacrylate to turn crystal clear is a challenge in itself. It seems to be very sensitive to mineral content in the water (aka hard water), with a higher level of minerals causing the jelly to look cloudy or not to set at all. This was complicated by some confusing instructions which recommended bottled water instead of distilled water. EDIT: Thank you to those viewers who mentioned that a lot of bottled water in the USA IS distilled water! I never knew that since almost every brand in Europe is mineral or spring water. (However I was in the US recently and brands like Evian, Perrier and San Pellegrino are widely sold everywhere. Searching for "distilled water" on Amazon also brings up tons of results for mineral water :/)

1) Jellfetti Powder doesn't dissolve
After watching a few YT videos, I realised that most creators seemed to have bigger problems getting the powder to dissolve rather than the clarity of the jelly. This is easily fixed by using the method in the instructions which is shaking everything in a large bottle. Don't mix the powder in a bowl and don't use a bottle that's too small. The water also needs to be room temperature, not cold out of the tap.

2) Mixture doesn't jellify
Water used is too hard. Sadly there's no way to reverse this step so that's why I'd recommend using distilled water from the start rather than risk it with tap water. If using bottled water, check carefully that it's distilled and not mineral (Evian, San Pellegrino & Fiji Water won't work!)

3) Mixture jellifies but looks very cloudy
Same as above. I would have found it more accommodating if the kit contains two packets of Jellfetti powder. That way, people can have a second attempt if something goes wrong which, based on the all the reviews and videos, seems to happen to the majority of users on their first try.
