Viji made his directorial debut in the 2008 Tamil drama film, Vellithirai; the remake of the Malayalam film, Udayananu Tharam. Way back, Viji also penned the dialogues of the Tamil films, Mozhi, which stars Prithviraj; Majaa, which stars Vikram and M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, which stars Jayam Ravi.
