A Weld County grand jury handed down a murder indictment against a police officer who had worked with the town of LaSalle for three days before he shot and killed someone, the police chief said.

Officer Erik Hernandez faces one count of second-degree murder in the death of Juston Reffel, who was shot and killed on May 3.
