Synopsis :- Ashok, the only son of a rich aristocrat Diwan, saves a simple middle-class girl named Seema out of distress by marrying her. As expected Ashok's father does not like the idea and Ashok has to leave his home with his wife and her younger sister Uma. Seema like a devoted God fearing wife, thinks to be the cause of all miseries and one night decides to eliminate herself from the life of her husband by jumping into the river Ganges. Ashok is left with his sister-in-law and his only young son. The neighbor's could not see this and remarked that he was in love with his sister-in-law. Ashok tries to get Uma married to Kishore, whom she love, but Kishore's father does not agree to the relation. Ashok dejected and disappointed meets with an accident is removed to the hospital where his wife Seema, after being saved from Ganges and who had now lost her memory, is serving as a nurse. Uma left alone, could not look after the Ashok's son Munna and takes him to Ashok's father, who had by now realised his mistake. Uma is made to stay there. Ashok gets the news that his father has accepted his son and goes to his father while Seema;s marriage is fixed with Doctor.
