Purdue Pharma gets fined 8 billion for their involvement in the horrendous US opioid epidemic, but they made about 35 billion over the course of 20 years. The company marketed Oxycontin as being less than 1% addictive to patients (when reality it was closer to 40-50%). No jail, just a fine and go home. This is a great lesson for future medical professionals, don't trust big pharma.
