Outpost Kitchen has become one of my favorite brunch spots with its innovative design, freshness, and quality service. You can't get food like this anywhere else.

Inspired by the no-frills beach cafes of 1970s Australia, Outpost Kitchen embodies the spirit of a dependable community hub. Since its inception in 2015, this Costa Mesa establishment has swiftly established itself as the go-to destination for wholesome, vibrant cuisine, where patrons can savor art, music, and camaraderie amidst an industrial yet contemporary backdrop. Adorned with striking vintage photography and artwork contributed by local talents, the restaurant pays homage to the carefree Australian lifestyle. Its menu, designed for quick service without compromising on freshness, remains unwaveringly committed to organic, biodynamic, and locally sourced ingredients.

"ORGANIC - SUSTAINABLE - ALL NATURAL - LOCAL" — that's what it says at the top of Outpost's menu, and you can taste it.

Service: 4/5

Outpost always has solid, friendly, and engaging service. It truly seems like the staff WANT to be there, from the host to the manager. Even when they're slammed busy, the service is professional and top-notch. I've been here a dozen times and haven't had one hiccup. That's good culture.

Ambience: 5/5

You can tell there's a lot of care and purpose here. There's local art hanging all over the walls. Furniture and lighting designs all have a futuristic industrial look that pops and makes it really fun to be in the restaurant. The owner made his way as an apparel branding designer, so they have merchandise that you actually want to buy and sport.

Food: 5/5

For food and drinks, they have Australian and European-inspired favorites, some of the best coffee drinks around (again inspired by Australia). My favorite is the Orange Tie, an espresso with dashes of orange bitters. So simple yet so delicious. They also have freshly juiced drinks with spinach, ginger, carrots, and kale. The food is truly unique. My favorite dish is the Bangers and Mash, which has BBQ HUNGARIAN SAUSAGE, ENGLISH PEA PANCAKE, SMOKED CHEDDAR SMASH, FRIED EGGS, DOLLY GRAVY, LIME KEFIR YOGURT. I've never had anything like it and I can't get it anywhere else.

The Chicken Brekky sandwich is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, thanks to its mustard aioli. Made in-house from scratch, no doubt. Their breakfast burrito is next level with its SPANISH CHORIZO, BREKKY POTATOES, CHEDDAR, FREE RANGE EGGS... AVOCADO_SPINACH WRAP.

And the Raging Bull Skillet is the best steak and eggs I can recommend with PRIME SKIRT STEAK, FREE RANGE PESTO FRIED EGGS, RAGING TOMATO CHUTNEY, AVOCADO, SPINACH, PICKLED ONION, ROASTED POTATOES, CHARRED TOAST. The tomato chutney and pesto just take it to another level.

Overall: 14/15

If you want some truly unique and delicious brunch with a unique ambiance wrapped in great service, then definitely check out Outpost Kitchen!
