Courtney was in school for about a year. We hadn't jammed much while she was gone and I made a new trio with some friends at the Bitter End. During her semesters away, I found myself at Rivington Rehearsal Studios, ironically on Stanton Street, in the Lower East Side. There, I met the bassist in this video, Frankie. I think he's in a band called Shira these days, and he's been recorded by Albini and Gordon Raphael. In May, Courtney came back from Bowdoin and moved into my apartment in Chinatown, NY. We'd crush jams together just the two of us everyday we weren't working and stayed in NYC the entire Summer of 2023. A run of shows that I deem my most cathartic and artistic, maybe even my best, I played with her over those short weeks. This is some pretty rare footage off my camera that I'd bring to our last go as the Gold Standard.
