Unfortunately, after less than 24 hours after Jak and Audacity's 1st egg from their second clutch of the 2024 season has broken. (Skip to 11:29 minutes into the video to see where I think the egg gets broken). The video starts with Jak incubating, and rolling the egg. Through his time, it seems (to me) that the egg is intact. Audacity comes in to take over incubating. At about 10:03:03, when Audacity is doing an egg roll, I think her talon pokes through the egg. She stares down at it for a few seconds, and then when she lifts up her foot and her talon comes out of the egg, so does some liquid from the egg. (Shown with slo-mo repeats). She ends up beaking at the liquid and pacing around the egg. It seems she knows something happened. She rolls the egg and it ends up hole side down. The next time we see her get up, the egg is clearly broken now. It's unknown whether her talon hit the egg just right to poke a hole, or if the shell was compromised, and soft or fragile enough for her talon to break through. Either way, sadly, this first egg of their second clutch is broken. Time will tell if she lays any more in a couple/few days.
