Known as trail running's most competitive ultramarathon, the race starts in Chamonix and challenges trail running's elite to a 106.5-mile course through the extraordinary beauty of the Alps. In 2022, Tom Evans and Emily Hawgood were part of the field, looking to create history.​

​Emily was tackling the race for only the second time. While Tom Evans, who may have more trail running experience under his belt, had just spent six months out of training after surgery – and had been focusing all his efforts just to make it to the start line. Both are attempting to finish the double for the first time, having already competed in the Western States 100 earlier in the year. ​

So much can go wrong in trail running at this level and while they have to focus all their energy on how to run the race right, the mental toughness required is extreme. ​

Following them throughout every mile, it’s clear that the impact of the team around them is huge. Through a dark and cold night, changing weather and juggling race position, the wider TERREX team support the racers through an unforgiving course. ​

“Shooting for perfection and accepting excellence,” as one of the team members says, sums up their determination. This is trail running at its very best.​
