The title character’s death may have been foreshadowed in an earlier movie. In 2013’s The Wolverine, Logan’s companion Yukio, a mutant who can see the future, predicts that Logan will die with his chest ripped open, with his heart in his hand. Although this doesn’t go on to happen in that movie, this one does line up with her prediction in a way. Logan’s death does see him impaled on the roo ts of a tree, meaning his chest is ripped open. As for his heart being in his hand, his final moments see him holding the hand of his daughter, Laura/X-23, meaning his “heart” could be interpreted as who he loves or his flesh and blood.
