Houston Pride Parade 1985

Kenneth Long, the husband of the late Jay Allen gave me quite a few VHS tapes they had collected over they years, and I am very grateful to add them to the JD Doyle Archives. I call them my Jay Allen Collection. Jay was the owner of many of Houston’s prominent gay bars, like The Barn, The Galleon, Miss Kitty’s Dance Hall and Saloon, and Pacific Street, dating back to 1977. I have had them converted digitally and did slight editing (title cards, some captions, etc.) and am very pleased to share them.

Find Much more on the Parade, and links to other years available, at my history site:

Also, find info on Jay Allen at:

Use of material on my channel is done under the "fair use" doctrine of the U.S. Copyright law, Section 107, number 1. Section 107 contains a list of the various purposes for which the reproduction of a particular work may be considered fair, such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Section 107 also sets out factors to be considered in determining whether or not a particular use is fair, such as: The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes. My uses are always for educational and history purposes.

And, despite the “fair use” area above, when you upload a video YouTube automatically checks for possible copyright infringement, and gives you the option, (not much of one) to just have them mute your video during that piece of a song. So, that will explain sound gaps in places…. Sorry.
