West London singer, songwriter, producer and multidisciplinary artist Alewya started out on GarageBand creating sounds to accompany her animations, before learning guitar on a trip to Ethiopia and unearthing a new part of herself.

Later, her debut EP, 2021's Panther in Mode on Because London, showed an artist with a bold, unique energy, whose music embraces myriad diasporic influences and marries them with glitchy production and her rich vocal. Today, Alewya and her art continue to unfurl.

This is the final edition of a four-part series with Lacoste, marking the French label's 90th anniversary. We've told the stories of four trailblazing artists who bring together electronic music, creative innovation and street style.
