At just 24 years of age, Montréal producer Kaytranada – real name Louis Kevin Celestin – has already emerged as the next in a long line of great beat-making talents from his hometown. Getting his start in his city’s Artbeat community, he first gained international recognition for an unofficial Janet Jackson remix.

He toured with Madonna in 2015, and in 2016 the Haitian-born artist released the soulfully retro 99.9%, his debut album on XL Recordings. The record puts his myriad passions – Dilla’s beats, old disco oddities and ’90s R&B – on full display.

In his 2016 Red Bull Music Academy lecture, Kaytranada traced his early rise to fame from a sleepy Montréal suburb to collaborations with established artists, digging in Brazil and finding his sound. .
