We know the sad end of Callas and the horrible end of Di Stefano ("crudele fato"), but "Pippo", why did his fans nickname him that? Nothing to do with the famous resistance fighter, nor with the love for horses (vs Pavarotti) since he was only a fan of soccer (his namesake played at the Real), nor with Disney. My personal hypothesis: the qualities attributed to this name are totally identical to those attached to his astral theme: dedication, humanity etc
