This classic is from Second City Television (SCTV), a Canadian television sketch comedy show, broadcast in the 1970s and 1980s

SCTV had a 'Movie of the Week' segment. This one in 1983, entitled 'Power Play', was about young Billy Stemhovilichski (John Candy) being recruited by the coach (Dave Thomas) of the Toronto Bay Leaves.

It also features other names you may recognize, such as Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis and Joe Flaherty.
